It’s easy to assume that celebrities live perfect lives and haven’t experienced the pain and hardships that ordinary people endure.

But myleene class has spoken openly about the emotional pain she felt after suffering four miscarriages, and now the TV presenter and musician is hosting a podcast featuring other celebrities ellie simmonds, Christine McGuinness And Chris Kamara Talk to them openly about the challenges they have faced.

The former Hear’Say singer, 47, says: “When you see someone on TV or in the public eye who has so much confidence or self-confidence or talent, it’s very easy to forget that there’s a person attached to that with experiences and heartache, and what that person may have had to go through to get there.

“It’s been quite extraordinary and uplifting, understanding how people cope with trials and difficulties – you can be so easily destroyed by fire. And there’s a real phoenix feel about people who have had to find a new way to deal with everything that’s been thrown at them.”

“The guests I’ve talked to have turned pain into strength, which is something I really relate to.”

And there couldn’t be a more fitting host than Klaas for a podcast about turning negatives into positives. Instead of focusing on the grief of her own miscarriage, she turned her pain into strength by campaigning on improving abortion care and raising awareness of the emotional toll of child loss.

She successfully helped campaign for changes to ensure that women did not have to suffer three abortions before seeking help, resulting in the government announcing new women’s health measures, including a pilot scheme ensuring medical intervention for women after every abortion.

And Klaas’s determination to improve abortion care for other women was recognized at last New Year’s Honors, when she was presented with an award. MBE For services to women’s health, abortion awareness and charity.

Now the mother of three reflects, “The death of my own child has definitely set me on the path to becoming a campaigner, making sure I can change the law, making sure no one ever has to go through this again.”

“I certainly don’t want my kids to have to go through that, and if it’s in my power to do something, I take that role very seriously. But it certainly wasn’t a role I chose for myself – it chose me, and in the most painful way.”

“Not that I necessarily saw my path going, but I’m on a path now that I can’t get off because I feel like I owe it to her when I was sobbing in the bed after the miscarriage, not knowing where to go.”

She says she has helped with pregnancy and baby donations Tommy’s Create a hierarchical model of abortion care, and emphasize: “That’s what I care about, health care. That’s why, if you feel helpless, you have to learn to empower yourself, because otherwise you will sink into your own abyss.”

As part of her passion for healthcare, Klass has become the host of the new Boots Opticians ‘See What’s Possible’ podcast series, in which she talks to celebrity guests about the physical, psychological and social challenges they face.

Klaas asks, “When life throws you the most extraordinarily difficult challenges, how do you deal with them? And how do you recover from them? And what kind of support network does that require?”

In one episode, she talks to GP Dr Philippa Kaye, who regularly appears on ITV’s This Morning, and journalist, author and broadcaster Anna Whitehouse, founder Maa Pukka Blog, about abortion.

Klaas says: “We realized that between the three of us we may have had 13 miscarriages. The pain of losing babies!

“It was a really good episode with Anna and Dr. Philippa, to say what this grief looks like. You can’t take away the pain of losing a child – you can’t forgive it, you can’t say they’re in a better place, it shouldn’t have happened, things happen for a reason, all those things we hear that make it hurt even more.

“It’s about learning how to grieve, and then what to do with that grief.”

Klass also chatted with Steven Frayne (formerly known as Magician Dynamo) about the illnesses – chronic inflammatory bowel condition Crohn’s disease, and arthritis – that caused him to take a career break.

“He was exceptionally ill,” she says. “He was extremely candid and very brave to talk about how he tried to take his own life when he found himself in a very dark situation because of his diagnosis.”

Crohn’s disease, which he was diagnosed with as a teenager, and then arthritis, which meant he was in too much pain to even hold a deck of cards, meant he had to step away from the public eye, and Klaas explains: “I said ‘Where has Dynamo gone?’, and he said ‘Dynamo is dead. This is Steven Fran now, and I take ownership of who I am, what I’ve been through'”.

Model and TV personality Christine McGuinness discusses her late diagnosis of ADHD and autism and parenting her three autistic children with Class on the podcast.

“She talked about feeling isolated and not getting the support she needed,” Klaas says. “The mental load on a mom is one thing, but when you can’t even handle it, it’s overwhelming.

“She really had to struggle to understand and re-learn everything about herself, and still try to take care of her children and guide them.”

And former professional footballer and broadcaster Chris Kamara spoke candidly to the Class of 2022 about being diagnosed with speech apraxia, which caused difficulties with his speech.

She says: “He was falsely accused of being an alcoholic because of the way he spoke and the way his brain worked, which had a real impact on his diagnosis. As someone known as a pundit and a footballer and a cheeky sycophant and a wordsmith, literally losing his voice was a very challenging time for him.”

She adds: “Every day, all the teams that were part of the podcast felt extremely energized by what the human spirit can withstand and how it will continue to fight.

“It was really a wake-up call about how lucky we are, but also what each of our guests have gone through, and how brave they are to show it. There’s a lot of power in vulnerability.”

Myleene Klass has partnered with Boots Opticians to host her new podcast, ‘See What’s Possible’, sharing expert voices, real-life inspirational stories and solutions to inspire and empower listeners. It is available for viewing boots opticians youtube Channel and listen on Acast, Spotify and Apple.
