Patna, October 28 (IANS) Janashakti Janata Dal (JD) national president Tej Pratap Yadav has launched a scathing attack on his brother RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that only if they can achieve something on their own, can anyone consider them ‘people’s heroes’.
This statement comes after posters were recently put up outside the RJD office in Patna, describing Tejashwi Yadav as the “hero of Bihar”.
In response to this, Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from RJD a few months ago, said, “Who are the true leaders of the people? Karpuri ji, Lohia ji, Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi are the leaders of the people. Those who call themselves ‘people’s heroes’ should not do so.”
Describing his father and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav as a ‘people’s hero’, Tej Pratap said, “Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are in the shadow of Lalu Prasad Yadav. When they achieve something on their own, we will accept them as people’s leaders.”
He said, “I am not under the patronage of Lalu Prasad. I have the blessings of the poor people of Bihar and the youth here and we are moving ahead with them.”
Earlier, RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui, a close aide of Lalu Prasad Yadav, had also raised questions on labeling Tejashwi Yadav as a ‘jan nayak’, saying “Tejashwi Yadav will take more time to become a Jan Nayak”.
“It will take time for him to become a ‘Jan Nayak’. Tejashwi has inherited the legacy of Lalu Yadav and is trying to fulfill the aspirations of the backward classes,” Abdul Bari Siddiqui told IANS.
The RJD leader also said that if he continues to carry forward and uphold the ideals and vision of Karpoori Thakur and Lalu Yadav, the public will definitely recognize him as a ‘Jan Nayak’.
