Gmail Users have been warned about a massive attack that appears to have killed 183 million people email Accounts unsecured.

The breach could have allowed hackers to gain access not only to email accounts but also to all other logins that rely on Gmail.
The breach occurred in April this year, but was recently noted by Have I Been Pwned, a website that tracks data breaches so that users could be alerted to them.
According to Troy Hunt, who runs the website, the data came from a very extensive hack that was collected from across the internet.
Users are able to check if their emails and passwords are part of the attack – or any other tracked data breach – using that websiteIn total, the website has tracked 917 breached websites and more than 15 billion accounts.
If a user’s account has been, or may be, compromised, there are a series of relatively simple recommended actions. Users are advised to set up two-factor authentication as well as change their Gmail password.
Two-step authentication adds an extra layer of security to an account so that even a hacker who steals a user’s password will not be able to gain access to it alone. Unlike some other systems, Google Uses various second challenges, and says its tools will choose the one most likely to keep hijackers away from the account.
