Agartala, October 27 (IANS) Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday said Tripura aims to achieve self-reliance and ensure employment in every household. He said the state agriculture and farmers welfare department has spent Rs 303 crore in the last seven years to develop agricultural markets.
Inaugurating the multi-storey office building for agriculture and horticulture departments under one roof in Udaipur and the Rajarbagh primary rural market in Gomti district, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the government has spent Rs 9 crore for the multi-storey office building and Rs 2.27 crore for the primary rural market.
He said that development of agricultural infrastructure is essential to make Tripura self-reliant and keeping this goal in mind, the present State Government has taken extensive initiatives to improve the market infrastructure across the State.
The minister said, “Our main objective is to become self-reliant India and self-reliant Tripura. We want employment in every household. It is not possible to give government jobs to everyone, but we can provide employment opportunities, which is also the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He said that the BJP government is providing employment opportunities to every household.
“Before 2018, the previous government had spent Rs 20 crore, but in the last seven years, we have spent Rs 303 crore for the development of the agriculture market,” Nath said.
The Agriculture Minister said, “Most of the agricultural markets have been completed. We should focus not only on production but also on selling those products. Earlier, farmers were never given respect. Now under the leadership of our government and Prime Minister Modi, they are getting respect and support. Farmers are like God who provide us food.”
More than 120 agriculture markets were approved, and 50 of them have already been completed, while work is underway for 70 markets. Apart from the 120 markets, 60 more agricultural markets will be set up, one market in each assembly constituency.
He further said that everyone should respect the farmers.
Nath said, “All public representatives should remember that life is like a notebook – the first and last pages are filled by God, representing birth and death, and the middle pages are blank, which we have to fill ourselves. Gomti district has been recognized as the best district in the production of various crops. This district needs more development. The central and state governments are working jointly for the well-being of the state. We The cleanliness of the markets should be maintained.”
Finance Minister Pranjit Singha Roy, Rampada Jamatia, Jitendra Majumdar, Abhishek Debroy, Sanjay Manik Tripura, Pathan Lal Jamatia and Ranjit Das, all MLAs, were present during the program.
