Srinagar, Oct 27 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said there is no comparison between senior National Conference (NC) leader and MP Mian Altaf Ahmed and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, while the two leaders of his party are like ‘earth and sky’.
Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar today, Omar said there was no comparison between Mian Altaf Ahmed and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi as there was a huge difference in the stature of both the NC leaders.
He said that he has deep respect for Mian Altaf and considers him a senior colleague whose advice he greatly values.
Umar said, “My father always advises me to think before speaking and Mian Altaf also says the same. In this respect, there is no difference between my father and Mian Sahib.”
He said that he had requested Mian Altaf to contact him directly whenever there was a need for discussion.
He said, “I told him, if anyone wants to talk to me then avoid the media and come to me directly. We can talk in private; there is no need for anyone else to know.”
When asked about Agha Syed Ruhullah, Omar refused to comment. “I won’t talk about that.” “You guys are trying to bring him on the same platform? There’s a world of difference,” he said.
Aga Ruhullah Mehdi is publicly speaking about the failure of the elected government to fulfill the promises made to the people by the NC in the manifesto.
He said he cannot campaign for the party in his native Budgam constituency, where by-elections are being held on November 11.
“I cannot go to the people and ask them to vote for us while repeating the same promises that we made in 2024 and could not fulfill,” Ruhullah said.
On Sunday, Mian Altaf said in the Halla Bole Conclave in Srinagar that since Omar Abdullah is the Chief Minister, he should speak responsibly and intelligently.
The senior NC and religious leader from the Gujjar-Bakarwal community had also said that he would not tell Omar Abdullah that his government is working in the right direction, as it would be a lie.
