Anger boils over at the end of the Clasico
Vinicius has had a rocky relationship with Alonso since taking over as manager in May. Alonso has replaced him in most games this season, although he appears to have sorted out how to get the best out of his two star players – Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe – who struggled to click last season.
In an eventful match with needles galore, Vinicius was cheered on, making tackles and encouraging the crowd to make more noise. He teed up Kounde almost every time he had the ball and looked like Madrid’s most likely source of goals.
In the 42nd minute his looping cross was headed back on goal by Eder Militao and Dean Huijsen nodded Jude Bellingham wide. A few minutes later he thought he had scored the third goal after teeing up Frenkie de Jong at the corner flag, which eventually went to Mbappé, who was ruled offside.
But even after creating a storm on the field, his part in the Test match was not over. After Pedri was sent off he reappeared just before the final whistle and a fight broke out between the teams. He had to be taken off the field after arguing with Barça players.

Vinicius angry at being substituted
A frustrated Vinicius Junior walked straight into the changing room after being substituted during a bitter Clasico with Barcelona, letting manager Xabi Alonso know his displeasure.
Vinicius was subbed off in the 71st minute and his rival Brazilian Rodrigo was subbed off during a 2–1 win over their arch-rivals, in which Vinicius played a key role in the winning goal and raced past Barcelona right back Jules Kounde.
With Madrid reversing a four-match losing streak against Barça, the win would mark a significant milestone in new manager Alonso’s efforts to stamp his authority. However, Vinicius’ angry reaction to being dropped showed the challenge he faces in managing egos within his team.
