New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS) The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in collaboration with Spike McKay organized a classical music concert under the series “Music in the Park” at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri on Saturday, leaving music lovers demanding more, an official said.
Thousands of people from Delhi NCR region were mesmerized by the performances of veteran Hindustani vocal and sitar artists.
The gathering included diplomats, officials from government and corporate sectors, students from various institutions and music lovers including park visitors.
The classical music evening began with a performance by Dhruv Bedi (sitar), accompanied by Akram Khan (tabla), and Ashwini Bhide Deshpande (Hindustani singing), accompanied by Vinay Mishra (harmonium) and Yeti Bhagwat (tabla).
The lush green surroundings of Nehru Park offered a perfect backdrop for the classical music concert which showcased the rich cultural heritage of India with the performance of ragas to create a truly profound and transcendent experience.
In continuation of the classical music festival on Sunday, the concluding day of classical music evenings, Shashank Subramaniam (Karnataka flute), Parupalli Phalgun (mridangam), and N Rajan (Hindustani violin), along with Nandini Shankar (violin) and Abhishek Mishra (tabla) will perform in the park.
Through this event, NDMC continues its commitment to preserve and promote the classical art and culture of India, offering audiences an unforgettable evening of soul-stirring music under the open green space.

NDMC also plays an important role in supporting cultural and artistic initiatives by organizing and supporting such programs that highlight the artistic and cultural traditions of India.
The concerts are organized by NDMC in the serene setting of Nehru Park, where the audience enjoys free live performances of famous and emerging artists.
