New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS) The Defense Ministry on Saturday said the second edition of the biennial Naval Commanders Conference 2025 concluded on October 24 after three days of high-level deliberations at Navy Bhawan in New Delhi.
The apex forum held from 22 October served as an important platform for Naval Commanders to discuss critical issues including operational preparedness, maritime security, capability development and tri-service integration.
The conference was inaugurated by Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, who underlined the vital role of the Navy in safeguarding national maritime interests amid the evolving geo-strategic environment.
The CNS praised the recent operational successes and deployments and described the force as ‘combat ready, credible, cohesive and future ready’.
A key theme highlighted was the commitment to achieve a fully self-reliant navy by 2047, driven by innovation and iDEX initiatives.
The highlight of the conference was Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s address on October 23.
The Union Minister acknowledged the vital role of the Indian Navy, praising its high level of operational readiness and strong deterrent posture.
“They confirmed that the presence of the Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean region is a matter of comfort to friendly countries, while it is a source of discomfort to those who seek to destabilize the region,” the Defense Ministry said in its press note on Saturday.
He also reiterated that a self-reliant Navy is the foundation of a self-confident and powerful nation, and the efforts of the Indian Navy towards enhancing its capabilities through indigenous equipment have made it the flag bearer of Aatmanirbharta.
Further strengthening the focus on jointness, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan also engaged with the Naval Commanders, with the CDS stressing on integration, jointness and resource optimisation.
To enhance knowledge management, the conference saw the launch of ‘NIPUN’ (Naval Intellectual Portal for Integrated Knowledge), a one-stop solution for aggregating intellectual work within the Naval fraternity.
Additionally, five new naval publications were issued, including Naval Ordnance Service Regulations and the Foreign Cooperation Roadmap.
The Sagar Manthan event held simultaneously on 22 October brought together Naval Commanders and subject matter experts to deliberate on contemporary maritime issues, contributing valuable insights to the outcomes of the conference.
