Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said that Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy should tell the state government about the places where industries are to be set up, adding that the process of land acquisition will start accordingly.
“Kumaraswamy should tell us where he plans to bring industries. Wherever he names, we will start the land acquisition process there,” Shivakumar said. While talking to the media at Bharat Nagar Gandhi Park in Herhalli of Yesvantpur Assembly constituency on Saturday, the State Congress President answered various questions of the journalists.
When asked about JD-S’s allegation of corruption in converting A account and B account property documents, he said: “I am inviting everyone for an open discussion. What corruption is taking place in A account-B account conversion? Our aim is to regularize property records for the citizens of Bengaluru so that they can access bank loans and other facilities, pay taxes properly and get better civic amenities.
“This initiative is our sixth guarantee. No other city in India has implemented such a project – in fact, the central government has rewarded us for it. Thousands of people have already applied. Why didn’t they (previous governments) digitalise property records during their tenure? Why didn’t they implement e-khata? They had no such vision.”
He further said, “Union Minister Kumaraswamy keeps saying he will bring industries – fine, let him bring them. Be it in Ramanagara, Bidadi or Mandya, let him list the locations. If he submits applications for the required land, we will move ahead. But mere empty talk will not reassure anyone.”
On the alleged clash between Congress MLA Pradeep Eshwar and former MP Pratap Simha, Shivakumar said, “I will not interfere in that issue. If it is about development, I will talk… otherwise, I will not.”
Asked if MLA ST Somashekhar was joining the Congress, he said, “Leave him. He is performing his duty as an MLA – that’s enough.”
Speaking about his “Bengaluru Walk” event, he said: “This area was developed about 25 years ago. Now, the crowd has increased, and most of the residents are middle class. There are many infrastructure issues here. Hundreds of people came and shared their problems. I will come back some other day to spend more time with them,” he said.
“Hundreds of people from the area have come and expressed their problems and I will come here for the second time,” he said.
These areas were established 15 to 20 years ago. There is more pressure on these areas because mostly middle class people live here. New people have settled here and Kempegowda Layout is nearby. The area is facing infrastructure-related issues and I have taken everything into consideration, Shivakumar said.
