New Delhi, October 24 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inspected several ghats being prepared for the Chhath festival and also painted a water tank being built for devotees in Dwarka in southwest Delhi.
Later, in a message on X, he said, “Preparations for the great festival of faith, Chhath, are going on with full enthusiasm and devotion in Delhi. Today, I inspected the Chhath site under construction in Dwarka Sector 23-B and participated in the preparations along with local citizens through voluntary labour.”
He wrote on Twitter, “It is heartening to see the enthusiasm and confidence on people’s faces as they feel that the government is with them, standing with their festival. MLA Sandeep Sehrawat and local dignitaries were present on the occasion.”
During the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated the development projects and the newly constructed Chhath Ghat in Laxmi Nagar Assembly and dedicated it to the public.
“This ghat is not only a symbol of the faith of our Purvanchali brothers and sisters, but will also become a symbol of cultural pride and community participation of Delhi. The preparations for Chhath Mahaparva being done with dedication and sensitivity under the leadership of the BJP government are unprecedented,” he said on the occasion.
He said, “This time when our sisters will offer Arghya to the Sun God on the banks of Yamuna, they will stand in the clean water and offer Arghya. This new ghat is a symbol of the confluence of faith and development in Delhi. On this occasion, Laxmi Nagar MLA Shri Abhay Verma and local dignitaries were present.”
Earlier in the day, CM Gupta celebrated Bhai Dooj festival with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
“Today, we celebrated the festival of Bhai Dooj with the brave soldiers of BSF. Since these guardians are deployed at the border, away from their homes and families, it becomes our duty to stand with them like their families, taking care of all their needs,” she wrote on Instagram.
He said, in the same spirit, today the foundation stone of water pipeline has been laid at BSF Camp, Chhawla.
She said, “On August 11, when I came here during the tree plantation programme, I had promised that our government would solve the long-standing water problem. Today is the time to fulfill that promise. This is the working style of our government – from promise to action, and from service to solution.”
