Reuben Amorim don’t care what Arne Slott have to say about that Manchester United team after liverpool The boss spoke of fewer blocks and longer balls after last weekend’s Anfield encounter.

The Red Devils celebrated their first win on enemy turf since 2016 as Harry Maguire’s late header sealed a 2–1 win shortly afterwards. Cody Agate Brian Mbumo’s early opener was cancelled.

It was Liverpool’s fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions and boss Slott later said that “It is always difficult to play against a team that defends in a low block and plays mainly the long ball.”

But such comments came as a disappointment to Amorim, who had no interest in evaluating the Dutchman.

“Liverpool is in the past, I don’t want to comment,” he said ahead of United’s home match against Brighton. “It is not important.

“The important thing is to try to understand what Fabian (Herzeler) said, what is going to happen (against Brighton).

“I understand everything. I’m really happy that the team can play different games.”

“It was an important win, but I was the first one to say we need to play better with the ball. So, I don’t care what the slot is saying, what people are saying about our team.

“I can evaluate our team and I’m really clear that we need to play better with the ball. We’re going to try to do that in this game.”

Amorim was pleased with the way his team adapted to the conditions and recorded a convincing win against Liverpool.

It is the first time United have won consecutive Premier League games since the Portuguese’s arrival last November and there are hopes this could prove to be a turning point in his reign.

“We talk about it all the time but it ties into the other question of how we face the competition,” Amorim said of that possibility.

“If you just think about it – that we’re going to try to perform and put everything on the field – that’s the most important thing.

“So, sometimes when you talk too much about the turning point, it gets worse. Let’s take it naturally.

“We’ve won two games. It’s no big deal, it should have come earlier. Let’s move on to the next game.”

The innings of Harry Maguire and Mason Mount will be assessed ahead of the Brighton game, but Lisandro Martínez is the only confirmed absentee.

Among those training with the group this week was highly-rated attacker JJ Gabriel, who turned 15 earlier this month and took part in a session.

“Like everyone else, I know he’s a really talented guy and everyone pays attention on social media,” Amorim said.

“But you can see there was one game in the Under-21s so we had less players and we tried to pick some players (for training) who have talent.

“Not just for me to see tomorrow but for them to feel what it means to be in the first team. The difficulties of playing against our defenders, the difficulties we have in training, the pace.

“If we can use every training to show kids what they need to do to stay here, that’s important. Not just for JJ but for everyone.”
