Patna, Oct 24 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched his Bihar Assembly election campaign from Samastipur with a sharp attack on the RJD-Congress alliance and declared that Bihar no longer needs lanterns – a symbolic jibe at the RJD’s election symbol.

Addressing the huge crowd, PM Modi began his speech in a dramatic manner, asking people to switch on the flashlights of their mobile phones. As the entire ground lit up, he quipped, “Now tell me, when there are so many lights shining here, what is the need for lanterns?”

When the Prime Minister used the moment to highlight the transformation that has taken place in Bihar under the NDA government, the crowd erupted in applause.

PM Modi said that today the price of 1 GB data is less than a cup of tea and this digital revolution has empowered the youth of Bihar.

He said, “The youth making reels are the new creative force of Bihar. NDA’s policies have given them an opportunity to earn and showcase their talent. This Digital Bihar is the result of our reforms.”

He emphasized how his government’s flagship initiative, Jan Dhan Yojana, opened millions of bank accounts, ensuring that government benefits now reach people directly and transparently.

PM Modi said, “In the previous government, money used to disappear midway. But now every rupee sent from Delhi reaches the beneficiary’s account without any leakage.”

He attacked RJD and Congress, accusing them of only worrying about the political future of their families rather than the welfare of the people of Bihar.

He said, “Bihar is the land of the great mathematician Aryabhata. The youth here are intelligent and understand everything. The people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to those spreading lies and misinformation.”

In a sharp attack on Tejashwi Yadav and the grand alliance, the Prime Minister reminded that in 2005, Bihar finally freed itself from the jungle raj (anarchy) of the RJD and ushered in a new era of good governance under Nitish Kumar.

He said, “During the UPA regime, RJD continued to take revenge on Bihar and hindered its development. But today, Bihar stands with progress and pride.”

Highlighting key development projects, PM Modi said, “The NDA government has given three times more funds to Bihar than the Congress-led UPA. Today, Vande Bharat trains are running, Darbhanga airport is operational, new railway lines and power plants are being built, and investment opportunities are growing rapidly. The day is not far when every district in Bihar will have its own startup companies.”

Concluding his speech, PM Modi expressed confidence that the people of Bihar will once again support NDA.

“Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, Bihar has moved forward on the path of development and good governance. This time, the NDA will form the government with an overwhelming majority,” he declared, while the crowd chanted “Once again, NDA government!” Raised the slogan of.
