‘PM Modi’s visit will bring prosperity to Bihar’: Rajiv Ranjan defends Nitish Kumar’s leadership

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) Janata Dal (United) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad on Friday, commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar, said the Prime Minister’s visits have always brought “prosperity and progress” in the state.

Speaking to IANS in Patna, Prasad credited PM Modi for transforming Bihar in the last eleven years, giving the state what “the Congress failed to deliver in the six decades after independence.”

“Today, projects worth Rs 1.85 lakh crore, including expressways and highways, are under construction in Bihar. Be it the allocation of huge central funds for flood control, or giving global recognition and market to makhana, these steps have given a significant boost to Bihar’s economy,” Prasad said.

Emphasizing that the NDA aims to include Bihar among the top ten developed states of India by 2030, he said confidently, “This target will be achieved by 2025-30.”

Responding to questions on the grand alliance’s chief ministerial and deputy chief ministerial candidates, Prasad said the opposition was questioning the NDA’s leadership because “they know people will not vote for them.”

He defended Nitish Kumar’s leadership, saying, “For 20 years people have seen Nitish Kumar as an honest, clean and capable leader. There have never been allegations of corruption against him.”

Drawing comparisons with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Prasad said, “Tejashwi is facing several corruption cases – charges have been framed in the IRCTC case and the ‘land for job’ case is also going on.”

“There is no possibility of RJD or Grand Alliance returning to power. They will lose badly. NDA is united under the leadership of Nitish Kumar,” he said.

Asked whether Nitish Kumar would remain chief minister if the NDA returns to power, Prasad reiterated, “Yes, Nitish Kumar is the undisputed leader of the NDA in Bihar, and all alliance partners stand firmly with him.”

Notably, PM Modi, while intensifying his attack on the Grand Alliance at the Begusarai rally earlier in the day, made a strong appeal to the youth of the poll-bound state Bihar and urged them to cast their votes carefully this time to build a prosperous and developed Bihar.

Before addressing Begusarai, PM Modi, during his visit to the birthplace of Jananayak Karpoor Thakur, fiercely targeted RJD-Congress regarding Jungle Raj and held them responsible for pushing the state into darkness.

PM Modi mocked the rift and infighting in the grand alliance over seat-sharing and took a jibe at ‘mahalathbandhan’, suggesting that the allies were engaged in bitter confrontation over seat-sharing and were motivated by self-interest rather than public issues.
