The festival of Diwali has ended leaving the air quality in poor and severe category in various cities of India. From Jind to Rohtak in Haryana and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh to Meerut and the ‘evergreen’ National Capital Region New Delhi, below is the list of the top 10 most polluted cities in India with the air quality index (AQI) recorded by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) till 4 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025. 10: Fatehabad – At 4 pm on Thursday, October 23, the AQI level in Fatehabad, Haryana was 286. CPCB recorded particulate matter (PM) 2.5 as the main cause of poisonous air. (Photos: Wikipedia, News18 Hindi)

The speed limit for light vehicles on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway has been reduced from 100 km/hr to 75 km/hr, while heavy vehicles will now have to follow the speed limit of 50 km/hr, down from 60 km/hr.

PM2.5: Even smaller, with a diameter of only 2.5 microns, PM2.5 particles are composed primarily of combustion particles, organic compounds, and metals. These are considered particularly dangerous to human health.
