Bhopal/Sheopur, Oct 22 (IANS) In an emotional address after Diwali celebrations, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the welfare of women, farmers, youth and the economically deprived.

Speaking ahead of Bhai Dooj, Dr Yadav described the state’s sisters as “our pride”, announcing that an additional Rs 250 would be deposited in their accounts as a festive gift, apart from the regular Laadli Brahmin scheme payments.

Laadli Brahmin Yojana, which has become a flagship scheme of the state’s social welfare architecture, transferred the 29th installment of Rs 1,541 crore to over 1.26 crore beneficiaries in Sheopur district on October 12.

Under the scheme, women now receive Rs 1,500 monthly, which is planned to be increased to Rs 3,000 in a phased manner by 2028.

Underlining the cultural resonance of the scheme, Dr Yadav compared the spirit of the scheme to the bond between Lord Krishna and his sister Subhadra. He declared, “There is no shortage in the government’s treasury, and wherever the Ladli Brahmin scheme has reached, there has been happiness and prosperity.”

He assured that the State will continue to protect the dignity and economic security of its mothers and sisters, pledging that no stone will be left unturned in this endeavour.

Turning to the agriculture sector, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to support farmers affected by natural disasters.

After a comprehensive survey of the damage caused by excessive rainfall, hailstorm and yellow mosaic disease, a relief package of Rs 1,800 crore was extended to farmers in Rabi districts.

Administrative measures were taken swiftly to ensure timely assistance, Dr Yadav reiterated that the government stands firmly with its farmers in this time of distress.

He also said that the Bhavantar scheme, which protects farmers from market price fluctuations, has been relaunched as a “gift” to the farming community.

The festive season has become a time not only for celebration but also for meaningful support, he said – turning Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj into occasions of empowerment and togetherness.

In his concluding speech, Dr Yadav congratulated all the women of the state, whom he called sisters, affirming that their welfare is at the center of the government’s vision for a prosperous and inclusive Madhya Pradesh.
