Kolkata, Oct 22 (IANS) The BJP on Wednesday accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of turning West Bengal’s state institutions into a “party-controlled ecosystem” during the last 14 years of its rule.

“For the last 14 years, Mamata Banerjee has deliberately avoided recruiting permanent staff and turned every institution and agency into a party-controlled ecosystem run by her loyalists,” BJP IT cell chief and party central observer for West Bengal Amit Malviya alleged in a post on social media.

He made the comments while reacting to the alleged assault of a woman doctor by a home guard at a government hospital in Howrah on Tuesday. The woman doctor was also allegedly threatened with rape by the accused, who is close to the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Malviya compared it to the RG Kar Medical College case of August last year, in which Sanjay Roy, the sole convict in the rape and murder of a doctor, was a civilian volunteer – a support post akin to a home guard – attached to the Kolkata Police.

In his social media post, Malviya claimed that the so-called civic volunteers and home guards in West Bengal were nothing but Trinamool Congress cadre workers in uniform, who were irresponsible, arrogant and careless.

He identified the accused in the Howrah case as Sheikh Babulal, a traffic home guard of Uluberia traffic guard and a “local Trinamool strongman”. Police have arrested three people including Babulal.

Alleged that such crimes take place because criminals get “assurance of security” from the ruling party.

Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, also posted on social media on Wednesday afternoon, alleging that such crimes happen because they are assured of security from leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress.

“These uncivilized and barbaric elements are not even sparing those who serve the sick people day and night, which is extremely insulting to humanity. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has no right to continue in that chair, because under the rule led by her, the respect of mothers, sisters, daughters and women has been completely lost. But she will neither step up against such threats nor resign, as she did not do during the time of RGKar. Accident,” the officer said.
