IndiGo to launch daily Mumbai-Madina flights from November 15: Check details

IndiGo Airlines is set to launch daily, direct flights between Mumbai and Medina, Saudi Arabia from November 15. The airline will operate the route using its Airbus A320 aircraft, providing convenient and affordable travel options for pilgrims, business travelers and leisure tourists.

With this launch, IndiGo claims to become the only Indian airline to offer direct flights between Mumbai and Madinah. Bookings are now open through IndiGo website, mobile app and authorized travel partners.

With over 150 flights already operating connecting India to major Saudi cities including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Medina – IndiGo’s new Mumbai-Madinah service marks its second connection with the holy city.

The existing Hyderabad-Madina route, which currently operates four times a week, will also be upgraded to daily service from November 16. The daily Mumbai-Madina flight will depart at 22:05 hrs, reaching Madinah at 01:10 hrs the next day, while the return flight will depart Madinah at 21:50 hrs and land in Mumbai at 04:45 hrs the next day. All timings are local and subject to regulatory approval.

Vinay Malhotra, head of sales, IndiGo, said in a statement, “Madinah is a destination of deep cultural and spiritual importance that attracts pilgrims from all over the world, including India. We are pleased to launch this new Mumbai-Madinah route with an aim to meet the growing demand for religious tourism in the holy city.”

IndiGo continues to enhance the passenger experience with passenger-friendly features, including the option for women passengers to see which seats other women have booked during web check-in.

During the Hajj season, Indian pilgrims often visit Medina to pray at the Prophet’s Mosque. According to news agency ANI, a total of 1.75 lakh Haj slots were allotted to India in 2025. Of these, more than 1.2 lakh pilgrims fall under the quota managed by the government.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), through Haj Committee of India, is managing arrangements for 122,518 pilgrims in the current year under the main quota. According to Saudi Arabia, all necessary preparations – flights, transportation, Mina camp, accommodation and services – were completed…

As for Umrah, which is performed year-round, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) reported that in the first quarter of 2025, 6.4 million pilgrims – including 4.4 million international visitors – traveled to Medina. India ranks among the top countries for Umrah pilgrims.
