New Delhi: As questions continue to be raised over the internal unity of the grand alliance in Bihar, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, one of the key leaders of the block, on Wednesday said coordination talks are in progress and ‘leaders will make any sacrifice to save Bihar.’

Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, “There will be a joint press conference tomorrow. The leadership will decide what to do, what not to do and what will happen. We are saying that our leaders are ready to make any sacrifice. We want Bihar to survive under any circumstances. An Indian block government should be formed in Bihar.”

Pappu Yadav stressed his support for Rahul Gandhi as the face of the alliance in Bihar.

He said, “My clarity is that in every situation, we need to fight elections under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. The people of this state have faith in Rahul Gandhi’s struggle.” He placed the Congress leader at the center of the alliance’s election narrative.

Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh said prominent national leaders would soon join the campaign.

“Rahul Gandhi will also come, Priyanka will also come and all the senior leaders will also come for the election campaign,” Singh confirmed.

Addressing speculations of disagreement over seat-sharing, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot dismissed reports of discord.

Gehlot said, “There is no major dispute here. There are 243 seats and in such a big alliance, it is not unusual to have differences on 5-10 seats. In any state where there is an alliance, it is possible that there may be disagreement on some seats.”

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced its decision not to contest the Bihar Assembly elections this time, which drew a reaction from Congress leader Udit Raj, who urged flexibility within the alliance.

“…Congress is making some adjustments, and JMM should do the same. Our focus is to protect the Constitution and democracy, which sometimes requires small compromises. When we contested in Jharkhand, we accepted the allotted seats and so on, a broader perspective should be maintained…” Raj said.

While opposition leaders have acknowledged the friction, they have reiterated their shared commitment to present a united front against the BJP-led NDA in the upcoming Bihar elections, which are scheduled to be held on November 6 and 11, and the results will be declared on November 14.
