Bhopal, October 15 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Finance Department has announced a revised increase in dearness relief (DR) for pensioners and family pensioners across the state.
The new rates will be effective from September 1, 2025, and will be reflected in pension disbursements starting from October 2025.
According to the official order issued, DR has been increased by 6 percent for pensioners under the Sixth Pay Commission and by 2 percent for pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission.
This makes the total DR for both the pay scales to be 252 per cent and 55 per cent respectively. The amendment follows a request from the Chhattisgarh government, which had sought Madhya Pradesh’s consent under the MP Reorganization Act, 2000, to implement similar benefits for its pensioners.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh responded positively by aligning its policy to ensure equality and welfare for retired personnel. The increased DR will be applicable to various categories of pension, including superannuation, superannuation, disability and compensation pension.
This will also include compassionate allowance as well as extraordinary and family pension for employees dismissed or removed from service – subject to the specific conditions mentioned in the Finance Department memo earlier.
Pensioners aged 80 years and above will also be eligible for revised DR on their additional pension. Those who have commuted a part of their pension will receive DR based on their basic pension amount before commutation.
The order also provides benefits to those state government employees who had taken lump sum payment on absorption into public sector undertakings or autonomous bodies and are now eligible for restoration of one-third of their commuted pension.
Treasury and Pension Disbursement Officers have been instructed to ensure timely payment as per Madhya Pradesh Treasury Code 2020. Any discrepancy found during audit after payment will be adjusted in the subsequent disbursement.
The move is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of pensioners across the state, thereby strengthening the government’s commitment towards social security and welfare.
