New Delhi, 30 September (IANS) has increased the number of drug related incidents in Kerala in recent years. Security agencies say they felt a pattern setting where drug trafficking routes would be mainly through southern states.
However, the suspension of four jail authorities in Kerala for smuggling drugs for prisoners clearly indicates that there is a rot within the system, which has ensured that the drug risk in the state has grown.
About 95 percent of the drugs are under control of Dawood Ibrahim Syndicate. This is the same syndicate that is supported by ISI which managed to compromise with the state of Punjab. Pakistan’s drugs will enter Punjab in large numbers before circulating in the rest of the country. However, this route has become very clear, and security agencies have managed to curb this danger to some extent.
D-Sindicate felt that to expand, it would need to be taped into the southern markets. This is when it decided to build a module in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s medicines will descend from the sea in Sri Lanka before smuggling in India. Officials say one of the most preferred drugs in Kerala is Mathemfetamine or Meth. The rest of the country also has a big demand for this drug, and felt the same, Syndicate decided to make Kerala a transit point.
Officials say Kerala is a favorite destination due to many factors, such as long beaches and proximity to international borders.
Operations are overseen by Haji Salim, a member of D-Sindicate. He is in charge of all works in South India. Over the years, Salim has managed to create a deep root network in South India through his operation in Kerala.
Central agencies have often complained that there is corruption within the system, due to which monitoring is very low. This has made it easy for drug smugglers to get drugs from Sri Lanka to Kerala and then broadcast them across the country.
After Meth land in Kerala, it is smuggled to the rest of the country through Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the rest of the country.
In recent times, it has also been found that the Andhra Pradesh border is used for cannabis smuggling. Officials of the Intelligence Bureau say that drugs are mainly smuggling from Kerala to northeastern states. However, in recent times, the drugs in Kerala have been smuggling with the help of international cartel in Thailand and other foreign countries.
Smuggling drug in Thailand is at its highest level because there is a lot of demand for the same. D-Sindicate has planted a large number of Nigerians to execute this trade. Nigerian, who gained experience in this business while working in Goa, is now conducting international operations for D-Gang.
Officials dealing with the men’s say that these cartells are not smuggling Meth in small numbers. His deals are adventurous in nature, and the recent seizure of Meth of Rs 30,000 crore in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is proof. However, after this seizure, these cartoles have replaced their modus operandi. They are now bringing small amounts of drugs, as it reduces the chances of detection. Every strategy at their disposal is being used to avoid detecting.
ISI is very dependent on this trade after Indian agencies successfully put the fake currency racket down. The money generated through this trade is used to fund terror against India, and therefore, this business is of extreme importance to the Pakistani spy agency.
