Pulwama, convicted in separate trap cases in Anantnag

The anti-corruption courts Pulwama and Anantnag then convicted Junior Assistant, Larkipora, Anantnag in separate trap cases at Gadhawar Circle’s Kigam Shopian and then BDO office.

According to a statement issued to the news agency- Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that in an important decision to strengthen the commitment to combat corruption, the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Pulwama, Dr. Noor Mohammad Mir, Gulam Hasan Kumar’s son, Gulam Rasool Kumar, convicted. FIR number 22/2008 under PS Woque.

The accused, then served as Girdwar, was found guilty under Section 5 (2), who was read with 5 (1) (d) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, SVT. 2006 and Section 161 RPC, to accept and accept bribes of Rs 2,000 from the complainant, in exchange for demarcation of the land measuring 18 kanals and 18 marla.

The statement said, “Following a complaint filed on June 16, 2008, a trap was successfully laid by the Vigilance Organization Kashmir (now anti -corruption bureau), during which the accused was caught red hand accepting the bribe.”

After intensive investigation, the spokesperson stated that a charge sheet was filed on 4 December 2008, and the matter proceeded for judicial assessment. “On August 18, 2025, the Hon’ble Court ruled, sentenced the accused under Section 5 (2) R/W 5 (1) (D) of the Jammu -Kashmir PC Act, SVT 2006 in 2006 for simple imprisonment for three years and a six -month fine. 10,000.

This punishment is another milestone in the anti -corruption bureau that reflects the ongoing efforts to maintain integrity and accountability in public service.

Meanwhile, Special Judge-King Anantnag, Masrat Rohi also gave an important decision in a long-pending corruption case, convicted Habibullah Kumar, then served as Junior Assistant at Block Development Office, Larkipora.

The case registered under FIR No. 25/2009 was investigated by the then Vigilance Organization Kashmir (now anti-corruption bureau), which was read under Section 5 (1) (D) with 5 (2) of the Prevention of Jammu and Kashmir of SVT. 2006 and Section 161 RPC, spokesperson said, saying that the case arose from a written complaint.

“The complainant said that he, along with five other assistants posted at BDO office Larkipora, was conferred with an impact from 1 November 2008. When he contacted the accused, who was then in-charge for establishment, the accused demanded Rs 1,800 for the same processing.”

On receiving the complaint, the spokesperson said that a trap was laid by the Vigilance Organization, during which the accused was caught red handed demanding and accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.

“After the completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed before the Hon’ble Court on 17 April 2010 for judicial assessment. The case was concluded on 21 August 2025 with the sentence of the accused,” the statement said.

The court sentenced the accused to undergo a simple imprisonment for a period of two years with a fine of Rs 21,000. “In case of default in payment of fine, the accused will undergo simple imprisonment for six months,” the statement said.

This punishment is in the form of a will for the unwavering commitment of the anti -corruption bureau to fight corruption and promote integrity in public administration.

The bureau reiterated its resolve to bring justice to all the people who misused the public office for personal benefit- (KNO)
