Srinagar, August 14, KDC: Jammu and Anti -Kashmir Bureau of Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested Aamir Farooq Sheikh, a junior engineer of the Rural Development Department, to accept and accept a bribe of ₹ 20,000.
According to an ACB spokesperson, a written complaint was received, alleging that the payment of 7.5 lakhs for the work executed by the complainant was pending with the Rural Development Department, and the accused JE demanded a bribe to facilitate his release. The spokesperson said, “The complainant was not ready to pay the ACB for legal action and contact the ACB. After verification, a trap was laid, and the accused was caught with a red hand demanding bribe.”
In the presence of independent witnesses, bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused, and was arrested on the spot. Searchs were also conducted in their residential complex in Kachdare, Shopian, and Kanipora, Novagam, Srinagar.
ACB spokesperson said, “There is further investigation in the case.” (KDC)
