A viral video recently on the social media of Shilvath Bandipora has expressed concern about the quality of rice stored in a government warehouse. Reply, Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma clarified that the rice shown in the video was not yet included in the Public Distribution System (PDS) and was not received for public supply.
Sharma assured that strict action would be taken against those who would be found responsible and emphasized that the government’s highest priority is to provide high quality rice to the people. He personally inspected the main warehouses in various fair price shops and Karanagar, identified some shortcomings, which have already been addressed through official action.
Confirming the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, the minister said that a committee has been formed and nodal officials have been appointed to prevent such incidents in future.
He urged the public not to panic, assuring that the government is working diligently to locate and punish those involved. Sharma said, “Our focus is on ensuring quality rice for more than 1 crore beneficiaries, which receive ration through fair price shops.”
