Srinagar, Aug 1 (KDC): In connection with an uneven property (DA) case being investigated by the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DRSP) in Jammu and Kashmir Police has provided interim security to Sheikh Adil. The court also directed that no charge sheet (challan) would be filed against it without its prior permission.
Relief CRM (M) came during the hearing of CRM number 449/2025, the club with the bail application number 152/2025, where Sheikh Adil challenged the FIR number RC1232025A0002, on 17 February, 2025, which is registered by the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch with 5 (1) (E) with 5 (1) (E).
Adil’s lawyer, a senior advocate, argued that the CBI lacks jurisdiction to investigate cases against the officials of the Center area of Jammu and Kashmir, given that no fresh notification has been issued by the Center for the post-correction of the Jurisdiction of CBI’s jurisdiction. He further claimed that the allegations of property being ratioless for known sources of income were baseless and unbalanced.
The lawyer informed the court that Vermul Heights, one of the questions located in Baramulla, was acquired before Sheikh Adil joined the service, and another property was bought by his wife in Birpur, Samba, who is also a government employee.
After considering the submission, the court issued a notice to the CBI. Advocate Faizan Ahmed, who was present for the defendant agency, accepted the notice and sought time to file a response.
While allowing the investigation to proceed, the court directed that no challan would be filed against the petitioner without the prior permission of the court. It was also ordered that in the event of arrest, Sheikh Adil would be released on interim bail, with a certainty of the same amount, subjected to the conditions of submitting a bail bond of 50,000, when necessary, the agency did not have a journey outside the country, molesting prosecution evidence and no journey outside the country. The court also allowed the petitioner to file a certified copy of the FIR within two weeks. The case is now listed for September 10, 2025, in which the investigating officer has been directed to produce the case diary on the next date.
The case is currently related to the alleged accumulation of uneven property by Sheikh Adil during his tenure as a Jammu -police officer by Sheikh Adil. (KDC)
