Srinagar, August 1, KDC, The Anantnag police on Friday claimed to thwart a major terror conspiracy by arresting three persons in illegal weapons and outer possession during a Naka checking operation in the Crad Raniipora area.
According to a police spokesperson, Naka was established in coordination with SOG PC Chittergul, 19 State Rifles and 96 Battalion CRPF near Panchayat Ghar Crad. A suspected Alto 800 vehicle coming from the card towards Ranipora was indicated to stop, but the driver attempted to escape. However, vigilant security personnel intercepted the vehicle and detained all three.
The police recognized the accused as Wasim Rahman and Ihasan Akram, both Midura, Tall, Avantpora, and Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat of Koil, Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat of Pulwama. On their discovery, weapons and ammunition were recovered from each person.
The police spokesperson said that preliminary investigation had revealed that Trikari had purchased arms from the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (Late) and was planning to carry out a terrorist Act in the region.
Police said that further investigation is going on. (KDC)
