Health and Medical Education Minister, Minister of Social Welfare and Education, Sakna Itu today visited the village of Jangalpora in Kulgam district to assess local developmental needs and take stock of his complaints and issues.
Addressing a large public meeting on the occasion, Minister Sakna said that the government led by Omar Abdullah focuses on public welfare, stating that inclusive development and people-centric governance is the main motto of our government.
The minister said, “Our goal is to ensure inclusive growth and effective distribution of essential services at the ground level.”
During the visit, the minister also interacted with the local people and patiently heard their complaints and demands.
He assured to prevent all the issues raised on time, saying that relevant departments would be directed to take fast action.
He also informed the residents that Rs. 4 crore flood safety project has been approved to protect the area from the dangers of future floods. He also announced that the concerned department has been instructed for the development of Playfield in the area.
The execution of a flood conservation project in major issues raised by the residents, establishing a primary health center, and increasing drinking water supply, either through a dedicated filtration plant facility or by expanding the supply from the existing functional plant in the nearby village.
People also demanded the upgradation of infrastructure in government high school, growth of employees in essential departments and establishing a animal husbandry center to support the agricultural economy and livestock-based livelihood.
Another major demand was the expansion and development of Village Playfield, which aims to promote sports and youth engagement.
On the occasion, Minister Sekena also distributed sports kits among the local players, encouraging more youth participation in sports and physical activity.
