In a high -risk rescue operation, the Indian Army, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), with local police and civil divers, successfully rescued a minor boy, who was trapped in the middle of a flooded river in Rajouri.
According to a release, the incident occurred after heavy rains in the region, which led to a sudden increase in the water level of Rajouri river. Eyewitnesses said that the boy was stuck on a rock in the middle of the rising water, in which no part was currently out.
On receiving the alert, a joint rescue operation was started. The local administration rapidly coordinated with SDRF and police units, while the Indian Army was called for air support due to the uncertain nature of the situation. A military helicopter was deployed by the armed forces in coordination with the ground teams, showing early and courageous action.
Despite the strong streams and the ongoing rains, the coordinated team managed to reach the boy and safely managed to take him to a safe place. The successful rescue operation has been widely appreciated by local people and civil officials, many people called it a brave example of timely action and inter-agency cooperation.
The boy is said to be safe and under medical observation.
Rajouri DM Abhishek Sharma said, “They are risking their own lives and saving others’ lives. All teams were deployed here so that we can save their lives at all costs,”
