PM Modi wished Jagdeep Dhankhar "good health", after his resignation as Vice President

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Good Health after resigning from the post on July 21, citing health concerns.

In a post on X, PM Modi emphasized that Dhankhar had many opportunities to serve the country including the vice -president of India.

Prime Minister Modi wrote, “Shri Jagdeep Dhikar ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various abilities as the vice president of India.”

The Rajya Sabha also announced the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar in the house on Tuesday, which was postponed shortly before the postponement of opposition slogans till 2 pm.

Vice President, Harivansh Narayan Singh announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs had widely notified, with immediate effect, India’s Vice President Jagip Dhankhar resigned under the 67A of the Constitution.

Earlier on Monday, Dhankhar resigned from his post “to prioritize health care and to follow medical advice.” Dhankhar, who is also the President of Rajya Sabha, sent his resignation letter to President Draupadi Murmu.

The letter stated, “To prefer health care and follow medical advice, I resign as the vice -president of India, immediately effective, according to Article 67 (A) of the Constitution,” the letter said.

He said, “I expand my deepest gratitude to His Majesty – for the honorable President of India for his unwavering support and amazing working relationship that maintains during his tenure,”.

The Deputy President also expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Council of Ministers Council.

“The Prime Minister’s cooperation and support has been invaluable, and I have learned a lot during my time,” he said.

Dhankhar said that the warmth, faith and affection he has received from all the members of Parliament will ever be cherished and embedded in his memory.

The resignation came on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. Dhankhar was sworn in as the 14th Vice President of India on August 11, 2022. As the Vice President, he also acted as the President of Rajya Sabha. (AI)
