Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal again reiterated the government’s stand on trade deals, saying that India would enter international trade agreements, if they serve the interests of the country.

The Union Commerce and Industry Minister, who addressed the session organized by Assocham, while addressing the session ‘creating a global impact’ session ‘said, “If India gets a good business deal, we will move forward with it. Talking to industry leaders and entrepreneurs, the minister emphasized the importance of changing the mentality within the subtle, small and medium enterprises (MSME).

“We should support each other and be vocal to the local,” he said.

He also emphasized the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMES), which focus on research, innovation, quality, and scaling to compete globally.

The minister urged MSME stakeholders to actively inform the government about non-tariff barriers that are affecting their businesses.

Talking to an industry player, Goyal said that the government would address the concerns of the industry and work towards resolving them when industry players express their concerns.

Referring to the comprehensive economic structure, the minister compared the current banking system, which was under the previous UPA government.

He said that the PM Modi-led administration had successfully reorganized the banking sector.
Goyal said that during the UPA rule, the banking sector fell under the growing NPA. The Union Minister said, “We have reorganized it in a transparent manner. Today, the banking system is strong and performing well.” (AI)
