India will sign trade deals only when they serve the national interest, the Piyush Goyal repeats the government’s stand

Web Desk, 19/07/2025

Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal again reiterated the government’s stand on trade deals, saying that India would enter international trade agreements, if they serve the interests of the country.

The Union Commerce and Industry Minister, who addressed the session organized by Assocham, while addressing the session ‘creating a global impact’ session ‘said, “If India gets a good business deal, we will move forward with it. If not, we will not, we will, the minister said firmly.” India always keeps interest in the country first, “he said.

Talking to reporters after the incident, the minister further said, “I have already mentioned that we do not talk through the media, we interact in the conversation room. The dialogue continues, and once the team comes back, we will receive the response and the response to the progress.”

Talking to industry leaders and entrepreneurs, the minister emphasized the importance of changing the mentality within the subtle, small and medium enterprises (MSME).

He called for a change towards mass development and mutual support between small and big firms. “We need a change in goals, guidance and mindset. Big or small, firms should grow together,” he said.

“We should support each other and be vocal to the local,” he said.

He also emphasized the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMES), which focus on research, innovation, quality, and scaling to compete globally.

The minister urged MSME stakeholders to actively inform the government about non-tariff barriers that are affecting their businesses.

Talking to an industry player, Goyal said that the government would address the concerns of the industry and work towards resolving them when industry players express their concerns.
