"We are only assembling in the name of Make in India, not really manufacturing": Rahul Gandhi

In order to become a true manufacturing power in India, the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that India (LOP) on Saturday said that India is collecting only products in the name of “Make in India” and does not actually build them.

Gandhi said in a post on X that 80 percent of the components of most of the TVs made in India come from China.

He further stated that along with the monopoly of heavy taxes and corporations, the lack of policy and support, stopping small entrepreneurs who want to build.

“Do you know that 80% of the components of most TVs made in India come from China?

He said, “Small entrepreneurs want to build, but there is neither policy nor support. On the contrary, the monopoly of heavy taxes and select corporates – who have caught the country’s industry, said.

Gandhi further emphasized that until India becomes self -sufficient in production, jobs, development, and “Make in India” will be only a speech.

The Congress leader said, “Till India is self -sufficient in production, the talk of jobs, development, and ‘Make in India’ will be only a speech. There is a need for grassroots change so that India can go beyond the assembly line to become a true manufacturing power and compete with China on the same rungs,” the Congress leader said.

Gandhi, earlier, during the winter session in Parliament, alleged that the Modi government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative has failed to revive its share of manufacturing in GDP, declining from 15.3 percent of GDP in 2014 to 12.6 percent, the lowest in the last 60 years.

He had said that China has been working on batteries, robots, motors and optics for the last ten years, and this space has a at least ten years lead in India.

“The world stands on the verge of a technical and economic revolution, India requires a new vision for development, production and participation – one that directly resolves our two biggest challenges: job crisis and 90 percent of the opportunity for Indians,” Gandhi later posted.

“Jobs come from production, which makes it in India, failed to revive. But we have an opportunity with revolution in energy and dynamics – to bring them together with renewable energy, battery, electric motors and optics and AI. India must have mastered a central role in this revolution, and promote production to give our young hope for the future.”

“Although China is 10 years ahead, we can catch correctly.

Production is also the foundation of our national security. In a world where wars are fought not among the armies but among industrial systems, our dependence on Chinese imports like motors and batteries puts us at risk, ”he said. (ANI)
