Edmonton – Alberta has crossed the United States confirmed in measles cases, after diagnosing 30 new cases over the weekend.
The province said on Monday that it has seen 1,314 cases since the beginning of March.
The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention has so far reported 1,288 cases in 39 states.
The outbreak of highly infectious disease has not died in Alberta so far. Three people, including two children, have died in the United States.
The US has also been hospitalized, with CDC reporting, 162 people have been admitted to the hospital compared to more than 100 Alberton.
A immunology and infectious disease Professor at Calgary University. Craig Jane says that Alberta’s low vaccination rate meant that it was only a matter of time when the US had crossed the US in matters.
“It was very clear that we were going to see Vikas, unfortunately, from several weeks to months,” he said.
“It is actually spreading quite easily here. And we have not yet seen the significant mitigation of dissemination that some other jurisdictions are perhaps able to manage.”
Jane said he would not think that Alberta, who deal with the outbreaks, would be able to get transmission in control before the fall in the pre -degradation, when Canada may lose its measles elimination situation, which has been held since 1998.
