Jammu and Kashmir Bureau of Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said that a Patwari was arrested from Mata Hamchipora, Budgam, demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000.
“A written complaint was received to the Bureau of Anti-Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption, alleging that Tahir Jaan Malla, named Patwari Hyumchipora, Budgam, was demanding a bribe of Rs 2000, which affects two sales works to influence the mutation of Almanag Khag, Budgam.
The complainant contacted the anti -corruption bureau with a written complaint, requested for legal action against the accused public servant under the relevant provisions of the law.
“On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was conducted, which confirmed the demand for bribe by the accused public servant. Accordingly, the case FIR No. 14/2025 U/S7 PC Act 1988 was registered and investigated at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigated,” the statement said.
“A trap team was formed during the investigation. The team laid a successful trap and the accused public servant Tahir Jaan Malla R/O Sebadan Budgam was caught with red hand, while demanding and accepted a bribe amount of Rs 2,000 from the complainant.”
After completing all the necessary Medico-Personal formalities, the accused public servant was detained, reading, saying that further investigation is going on in the case (KNO)
