Srinagar, July 4: Union Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Devesh Chaturvedi, today visited major agricultural institutes and facilities in the Kashmir Valley, which to assess the ongoing initiative and find the way to further strengthen the region.
During the journey, Devesh Chaturvedi inspected the Indian International Kashmir Saffron Business Center (IIKSTC), where he reviewed the price-growing infrastructure after the center cut. He appreciated the technological progress being implemented to support saffron growers. He emphasized the importance of branding and marketing to ensure better value for farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Bashrat Qayum; Director Horticulture, Vikas Anand; Director was with Agriculture, Sartaj Ahmed Shah, senior officials of the department and the secretary during scientific visits.
The Union Secretary also visited the honey testing laboratory at Lalmandi, where he examined quality assurance and price joint facilities for apical-based products. He emphasized the importance of traceability and certification in ensuring access to national and international markets.
Director Agriculture Kashmir informed the Union Secretary about the activities, achievements and future schemes of the department in these major areas.
Later, Devash Chaturvedi visited Flooric Nursery in Lalmandi, where varieties are being cultivated and focused on the ability of fluoriculture as a high-value agricultural enthusiast in the region. He encouraged the authorities to further enhance publicity techniques and promote commercial flowers between youth and entrepreneurs.
