Jammu and Kashmir Vice President Surinder Chaudhary on Tuesday described the Amarnath Yatra as a celebration of unity and brotherhood of the region.
Chaudhary reviewed the preparation of the journey, praising the Border Rhodes Organization (BRO) for his extraordinary work in the redevelopment of the yatra.
A revered pilgrimage Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to participate in thousands of devotees starting from July 3.
Talking to media reporters, Deputy CM Chaudhary said, “This journey is a festival of JK. The beauty of this journey is that the base camp is in Jammu and the temple of Baba Amarnath is in Kashmir. It is the brother of Jammu and Kashmir. That brother has done an exemplary job in redevelopment of the track.”
The 38-day journey will begin on 3 July and end on 9 August. The pilgrimage will follow the two routes-Anantnag district in the traditional 48-km Pahgam road and 14-km small but in Ganderbal district on Stator Baltal Marg. The first batch of pilgrims will depart from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu on 2 July.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal Base Camp to review the necessary arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Sinha met with officials of all departments to review security, logistics and coordination for this year’s Amarnath Yatra.
He also said that the administration and security forces have made better arrangements for devotees across the country to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage this year.
Talking to reporters, Sinha said, “Officers of all departments were present in the meeting here today … The administration and the Shrine Board have made better arrangements simultaneously. Security forces have made very strong security arrangements. I hope that this time, people will be able to travel more successfully than before, and devotees coming from all over the country will have a better experience here …”
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also spoke on the necessary arrangements for the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra.
He further stated that Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha presided over two meetings before the pilgrimage, with a political parties and to ensure appropriate facilities for pilgrims with a civil society. (AI)
