The Lieutenant Governor appealed to the devotees to change a large number in Shri Amarnathji Yatra

Srinagar, June 25, KDC: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today appealed to the devotees to change a large number in Shri Amarnathji Yatra, which is going to start from July 3.

Addressing a press conference in Raj Bhavan, Srinagar today, the Lieutenant Governor said that the security grid has been strengthened, multi-layer security place and the Army, CAPFS, J&K Police have ensured all the necessary measures for a safe pilgrimage. All necessary arrangements have been made for pilgrims coming for Shri Amarnath ji Yatra and for free darshan in the holy cave.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the atmosphere of spiritual enthusiasm has filled the air in Shri Amarnathji Yatra Base Camps and Shri Amarnath ji Shrine Board (SASB) has prepared for all the necessary facilities including Pilgrim’s movement, housing, electricity, water, sanitation, communication and health. The Lieutenant Governor said that important achievements were made by SASB in the last two years in creating pilgrims-centric facilities.

  • Wider Travel Tracks: Both routes along with both routes along with the first narrow and steep journey are widened to about 12 feet in most parts.
  • Kalimata Stretch, which was earlier very narrow and with steep gradient, is widened up to 12 feet, which has a lot of slope.
  • The safe journey tracks with a strong safety handrail with the entire Baltal Track and 20+ km on the weakened stretch on the Pahgam track.
  • Enlightened tracks and travel camps: Grid power connectivity has been obtained with the holy cave and the holy cave to the claw.
  • Grid connectivity is being started at the remaining stretch of the Pahalgam track.
  • Extended to pilgrims in SASB passenger foundation complexes in Baltal (800), Nanwan (900) and Panth Chowk (1000).
  • Digital pre-paid systems will be available for pilgrims to hire various services like pony, peth, palanquin.
  • In the holy cave, the wooden philosophy platform is replaced with a wooden floor and additional row with suitable alignment and stainless steel platforms of height. Now, pilgrims will be able to see together in four rows. It will facilitate better and trouble free philosophy.
  • Establishment of canopy on the stairs in the holy cave for the comfort and conservation of yatris from the rain/ snowfall/ scorching sun.
  • The clinical bed capacity of health care facilities in Panjtarni and upper camps has been greatly expanded this year.
  • Integrated commands and control centers have been established and deployment of J&K police and CAPFS personnel has increased.
  • Weak spots were identified and dedicated measures have been taken to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
  • The 100-bed hospitals are functional on both axis.
  • Passenger Nivas is being developed for the convenience of devotees in Baltal and Pahgam Axis.
  • Special focus on cleanliness is focused and the journey is made more durable.
  • Prasad counters have been established in the holy cave.
  • Nanwan base camp, cloak room, e-rickshaw and other such features have increased the foot over bridge for pilgrims and service providers.
  • Security has also been increased at tourist destinations.

The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the role of media persons and local residents of J&K in the smooth and successful conduct of the journey. He urged pilgrims to travel in the convoy nominated. (KDC)
