Badenoch says

Web Desk, 21/06/202521/06/2025

Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch has publicly stated his belief that the BBC should not show “the performance of the Irish Rap Group Cancap next week at the Glastonbury Festival”.

His intervention follows the presence of the recent court of Kneecap member Liam Og Og O Hannade, on Wednesday to showcase a flag in support of the accused terrorist organization Hizbullah and display a flag in support of “Hizbullah, UP Hizbullah” during a gigalum in November last year.

Ms. Badenoch said in the X post, which was with an article in the Times that claimed that the BBC did not ban the group: “The BBC should not show noicap propaganda.

“A Kneecap band member is currently on bail, accused under the Terrorism Act.

“As a publicly funded platform, the BBC should not reward extremism.”

The Tory leader of the opposition has earlier called the group to ban Glestonbury, and last year CACAP won a discrimination case against the UK government at the Belfast High Court, when he tried to deny him a £ 14,250 funding award when he was a minister.

In May, London’s Wide Awake Festival was released just before its headline set, in its latest single the rickp, Kneecap targeted its latest single the rickp, in which the song made fun of politician’s efforts to block the loss of his arts funding and conservative party.

On Wednesday, O Hanid, who performed Mora by the name of Mora, was happy by hundreds of supporters as he arrived at the Westminster Magistrate Court in the “Free Mo Chara” T-shirt with Bandmets Noz O Carellen and JJ O Dokartigh.

During the proceedings, the court heard that the 27 -year -old is “well within its rights” to give his opinion on Israel and Palestine, but the alleged event at the O2 Forum in the city of Kentish in North London is a “completely different talk”.

O Hannad was released on bail unconditional till the next hearing in the same court on 20 August.

After the hearing, the rapper said: “For any person to go to Glastonbury, you can see us there at 4 pm on Saturday.

“If you can’t be then we will be on BBC, if anyone sees BBC. We will be in Vambali in September.

“But the most important thing: free, free Palestine.”

Kemmy Badenoch has called for the glustonabury performance of the clakep not shown on the BBC (Lucy North/PA). ,Packet,

After the historical gig footage surfaced, a counter terrorism police investigation reported, which allegedly calls the group to death of MPs.

In April, Kneecap apologized to the families of MPs murdered last month, but said the footage of the incident was “exploited and weapons”.

In an initial post in response to the charge, Kneecap said: “14,000 children are about to die of starvation in Gaza, with the world sitting on the other side of a wall, and once again the British establishment focuses on us.

“We deny this ‘crime’ and will defend ourselves, it is political policing, it is a carnival of distraction.

“We are not a story, a massacre, because they take advantage of the genocide, they use a ‘anti -terrorism law’ against us to display the flag thrown on the stage. There is also an allegation not to warrant their crown court, instead a court does not have a jury. What is the purpose?

“To restrict our ability to travel. To prevent us from talking to youth around the world. To silence the voices of mercy. To prosecute the artists who dare to speak.

“Instead of defending innocent people, or they claim the principles of international law, powerful in Britain has abolished the slaughter and famine in Gaza, as they did in Ireland for centuries. Then, like now, they claim justification.

“IDF units. They are real terrorists for arm and detective aircraft mission, the whole world can see it.”

Formed in 2017, the group is known for their stimulating songs in both Irish and English and goods.

His most famous tracks feature Gate Your Brits Out, Better Way to Live, Fontanes DC and Grien Chetan from 3 CAG.

A BBC spokesperson said: “As a broadcast partner, with artists booked by organizers of the BBC festival, Glastonbury will bring wide music coverage to the audience.

“As long as the BBC does not ban artists, our plan will ensure that our programming will complete our editorial guidelines. Decisions about our output will be taken up to the festival.”
