Man naughty in Sopore with fake ID

Srinagar, June 21: Police on Friday arrested a person as a police officer in Sopore city of North Kashmir, fixing the forged identity documents from his possession.

According to officials, the arrest took place in Harwan Crossing under the jurisdiction of police station Bomai. The suspect attempted to flee to notice a police patrolling at the outpost, but was caught fast.

During a personal discovery, the police recovered a fake police identity card and a fake driving license from the accused. He has been identified as Barkat Ahmed war, son of Sanaullah war, resident of Zalora village in Sopore. Police said the war is a driver by profession.

Initial investigation revealed that the accused had forged the identity card to implement a police officer – the possibility of misleading the public or getting personal benefits by misusing the name of the police department.

Police station Bomai has registered a case FIR number 32/2025 under sections 205 and 319 (2) of the Indian Joint Code (BNS). Further investigation is running to detect any prior use of fake ID, and was it part of a large network.

Police have reiterated that copying law enforcement personnel is a serious criminal offense and found guilty, anyone will have to face strict legal consequences. He has urged the public to be vigilant and reported any suspicious behavior or fraud activity immediately.
