"We accidentally use the wrong world map": Israel fixes the mistake, shows Kashmir as Indian territory and releases new GFX

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday released Kashmir as an Indian territory and released a new graphic, making them the previous mistake.

The IDF posted a map on Friday, in which Jammu and Kashmir was incorrectly depicted as part of Pakistan, which used to express widespread resentment in India.

IDF International Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shiph, while accepting the error, said that he focuses on neutralizing the nuclear threat, “mistakenly used map of the wrong world”. He thanked the Indian Neti on X for indicating the mistake.

However, the regional boundaries of India’s North East remains to be corrected. The IDF map showed Northeast India as part of Nepal.

The original tweet, which caused diplomatic ruckus, was posted on Friday late evening. It featured concentric red circles emanating from Iran and a graphic that shaped large parts of West Asia, North Africa, Europe and Asia, including India, China, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Ethiopia, Romania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Russia.

The purpose of this scene was to portray Iran’s alleged missile range, as part of Israel’s broad message that Tehran posed a global threat.

The graphic included an incorrect depiction of India’s borders – and the Indian neats were hurry to call it out. Some also tagged the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, demanded the post to be removed and was re -prepared with the correct map.

Aksai Chin, which is part of Ladakh, was also excluded from Indian territory. Arunachal Pradesh was also incorrectly presented in the map.

One of the x users, BVNBhargava (@bvnbhargava, posted, “Forget the accuracy, this is no way to the truth. Why not change it instead of posting this regret note? You need to understand India’s feelings and our relationship. Never late, change it, change it.

About 90 minutes after the first wave of backlash, the IDF released a public apology.

Many users wrote: “Remove it, repost it.”

A user replied, “Forget the accuracy, this is no way to the truth. Why not change this sorry note? You need to understand India’s feelings and our relationship. Better late, change it asap plz,” a user replied.

After the graphics improvement, one of the users posted, “Israel is a friend of India. Only a friend will apologize for only one mistake.”

So far, the Government of India has not officially responded to the map. India’s relationship with Israel has increased considerably with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit in 2017, marking a new era of cooperation. Today, India is one of Israel’s largest military and business partners.

Both nations are engaged in joint military training and intelligence-sharing, especially on anti-terrorism efforts. Israel has also provided humanitarian assistance to India, such as the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.

Indian companies such as ONGC Videsh, Bharat Patrosources, Indian Oil, and Oil India have been awarded the investigation license for extracting natural gas from Israeli copper and leviathan gas sectors.
