“If there is no caste in India, then how is Modi OBC?”

Web Desk, 06/06/2025

Questioning PM Modi’s claim of being OBC, the BJP said that the BJP denies the existence of caste in India, emphasizing the need for a real caste census.
“Narendra Modi used to say in every speech, I am OBC. Then, on caste census, he says that there is no caste in India. If there is no caste in India, how Narendra Modi has become an OBC? My goal is to operate a caste census. Gandhi posted on Congress X handle.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of census a caste, claiming that it would reveal the real social and economic mobility of the country.
He insisted that a real caste census would reduce the current political scenario, especially for the ruling party. He referred to US President Donald Trump’s claim that he had surrendered to Narendra Modi, suggesting that Modi’s silence on the issue.
“My aim is the caste census. In the Lok Sabha, in front of Modi ji, I told him that caste census will be done. And you know that he is used to surrender. Trump has publicly stated 11 times that he has surrendered to Narendra Modi. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
He highlighted the two models-the BJP’s closed door approach and the inclusive method of Telangana, including public inputs.
“There are two models of caste census- one in the BJP model and the other Telangana model. In the BJP model, the authorities decided in a closed room, 90% of which was no one. The most important thing in the caste census is that the question is being asked. Do you want people of every section to give us different types of questions.
The central government on Wednesday announced that the population census -2027 will be held in two phases and it will also include the calculation of castes. Opposition parties accused the government of further delay in nationwide calculation practice.
According to MHA’s statement, the reference date of “Population Census -2027” will be 00:00 hours on March 1, 2027 for most parts of the country.
“However, for Ladakh’s center region, and for non-radical snow-bound areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the reference date will be 00:00 hours on October 1, 2026.”
The government has also indicated that the notification of the intention of conducting the census will be published in the official gazette on 16 June 2025, following the deadline mentioned above. This will be done under Section 3 of the Census Act, 1948, which controls the legal structure for decisive census exercises in India.
The 2021 census delayed due to the Kovid -19 epidemic. Census 2027 is one of the most comprehensive data-acted exercises conducted by the Government of India.
India’s census was organized under the provisions of the 1948 Census Act and 1990 census rules.
India’s final census was held in two phases in 2011, ie I) Phase I-House Listing (HL) (1 April to 30 September 2010) and (ii) Phase II-Population Count (PE) (February 9 to February 28, 2011) For the first day of March 2011, with reference date-it was held with the reference date of October 11 to 30, 2010 as the first day of October 2010.
Census 2021 was also proposed to be held in two phases in a similar way, with Phase I during April-September 2020 and the second phase in February 2021. All preparations for the first phase of the census to be held in 2021 were completed, and the field work was started in some states/UTS to start from April 1, 2020. Placed.
