Temes Water A fine of £ 122.7 million has been imposed in the biggest punishment after two investigation in waste water and dividend payment Fear Ever released, the regulator said.
The water giant will pay £ 104.5 million for violation of rules related to its waste water operation, as it is said that it “failed to protect the environment”.
Ofwat Chief Executive Officer David Black said: “Our investigation has highlighted a series of failures by the company to build, maintain and operate sufficient infrastructure to fulfill its obligations.
“The company also failed to come up with an acceptable prevention package, which benefited the environment, so we have imposed an important financial penalty.”
Temes Water will pay an additional £ 18.2 million to break the rules related to dividend payment, the first dividend -related fine, Tot said.
The regulator said that money will be paid by utility giants and its investors, not by customers.
Environment Secretary Steve Reid said: “The era of taking profits from failure is over. The government is cleaning our rivers, lakes and seas for good.”
Waste water fine was first proposed last year and confirmed on Wednesday.
