The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the anniversary of his 34th death in Veer Bhumi, Delhi, in the anniversary of his 34th death. In a post on X, the Congress also recalled the former PM and said that Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution to the creation of modern India is unforgettable.

Former Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar highlighted that Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation of a digital India. He also shared his relationship with the former PM, called him a patron, which inspired him and empowered him.
DK Shivkumar wrote on X, “Recalling former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi on the anniversary of his death. A visionary, he laid the foundation for a digital India and started the IT and Telecommunications Revolution,” DK Shivkumar wrote on X.

Rajiv Gandhi took charge of the Congress in 1984 after the assassination of his mother and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He became the youngest Prime Minister of India at the age of 40, when he assumed office in October 1984.
He served as the Prime Minister of India till 2 December 1989. Born on 20 August, in 1944, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a liberation tigers of the Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber.
