Foreign Minister S Jaishankar strictly confirmed that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral case, which focuses on the illegal occupation of the Indian region of Pakistan in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir.
He said that the Government of India is ready to discuss the Kashmir issue with Pakistan, especially about the vacancy of the Indian region of illegally occupied.
Jayashankar spoke to reporters at the edge of the inauguration of the Embassy of Honduras, saying, “So sometimes the Kashmir issue has been brought back. The only thing that Kashmir should be discussed is that we like you very much. You know what is in your mind and many of you have raised me on different occasions.
He reiterated that India’s relations with Pakistan would be strictly bilateral, focusing on anti-terrorism efforts and emphasized that India’s behavior would be bilateral, without any third party participation.
Jaishankar said that Pakistan was expected to take concrete action on terrorism and needed to hand over the list of terrorists and end the terrorist infrastructure.
“Our relations and behavior with Pakistan will be strictly bilateral. It is a national consensus over the years, and it is not a change at all. The Prime Minister clarified that the conversation with Pakistan will be only on terror. Pakistan has a list of terrorists who need to hand over, what we are doing. What we are doing. Those talks that are possible,” Jayashankar said.
Jaishankar also reiterated that the Indus Water Treaty signed in 1960, is currently on hold due to Pakistan’s cross -border terrorism. The treaty controls the division of water resources between the Indus River and its tributaries between India and Pakistan.
“Water issues have been raised again, you all know, and I will re -tell the cabinet, security and the cabinet committee on the government. It was very clear that the Indus Water Treaty is abolished and Pakistan stops reliable and irreplaceable to terrorism across the border by Pakistan.
The treaty allocates India and Western rivers (Indus, Chenabs, and Jhelum) to Eastern rivers (Beas, Ravi, and Sutlage) in Pakistan, with some provisions for India, with some provisions, Western rivers are used for limited irrigation and power generation for non-individual uses.
The World Bank broke the Indus Water Treaty to resolve water-sharing disputes between India and Pakistan. Despite stress and conflicts, the treaty is generally conducted, both countries have exchanged data and collaborated water management through the Permanent Indus Commission.
However, it is in hold after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April. In response to the terrorist strike, India launched Operation Sindor on the night of May 6-7, attacking nine terrorist launchpads in Pakistan and Poke.
Jaishankar said that he was grateful to the Honduras government on 22 April for condemning the Pahalgam terror attack.
“I think you know for us that it was great that we have a new embassy and Honduras is a country where you know that business is growing. They are politically our supporters. They were one of those countries who expressed very strong solidarity.
Jaishankar said that many international leaders called him and confirmed his support. In addition, acting on the proposal of the United Nations Security Council, India attacked terrorist sites in Pakistan on 7 May under Operation Sindoor.
“We really got a lot of international support. Many ministers, many leaders called here, many ministers called me. We had a security council proposed, which was very clearly stated that the criminals of the attack should be held accountable.
Earlier on 13 May, during the weekly media briefing by the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaywal also echoed the same stand.
“Following the CCS decision, this Indus Water Treaty is kept in disqualified. I would like to withdraw you a little. IWT, Indus Water Treaty, were concluded in the spirit of goodwill and friendship specified in the preamble of the treaty.
The Indus Water Treaty, which had gone away by Pakistan for several decades of terrorism across the border, is now standing in Aban. Jaiswal said that climate change and demographic changes have created new realities on the ground.
“Now, according to the CCS decision, I referred to the treaty on 23 April, reliably and unchanging crossing the treaty, ending its support for terrorism across the border. Please also note that climate change, demographic changes and technical changes have created new realities on the ground.” (AI)
