“The ceasefire is welcome; Pakistan should give up the policy of using terror as a state policy”: Former JK DGP

Web Desk, 10/05/2025

The Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid welcomed the ceasefire of India-Pakistan on Saturday and said that Pakistan should learn from India and leave the policy of using terror as a “state policy”.

Former JK DGP told ANI, “This agreement is a welcome development for India and the entire region because we do not want to harm anyone … any neighboring country … Pakistan should learn from India and leave this policy of using terror as a state policy.”

He further said that India has laid a condition that Pakistan needs to stop its acts of terrorism.

He said, “This is a good development … I think India has laid a condition that Pakistan needs to stop its acts of terrorism … We were mediation … Therefore, this agreement was reached. The ceasefire is welcome,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Ravinder Raina said that the Indian Army has paid Pakistan for every “nefarious act”.

“India has responded to Pakistan’s rebellion in Pahgam. Pakistan has fallen on its knees and is crawling at the feet of America and PM Modi … The whole world is saluting PM Modi … Pakistan is lucky that a ceasefire has been announced. Otherwise, it must have been away from the world map and was crushed to dust.”

After the DGMOS of India and Pakistan, the minister’s comment came that both sides would stop all firing and military action.

In an important step towards de-escation, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations approached his Indian counterpart earlier this week. The two sides agreed to prevent all military functions – on the ground, and in the air -affect to the 1700 -hour IST.

Misri said that with another round of the DGMO-level dialogue scheduled on May 12, instructions have been issued to implement the ceasefire.

Addressing the press briefing on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO this afternoon 15:35 hours ago. It agreed between them that both sides would stop land and all firing and military action in the sea and sea.”

He said, “Today, both sides have been instructed to make this understanding effective. Directors of military operations will talk again in 1200 hours on 12 May.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “India and Pakistan have done an understanding on the stoppage of firing and military action today. India has continuously maintained a firm and unrelated attitude against terrorism in all its forms and expressions. It will continue to do so.”

Claiming that US mediation played an important role, US President Donald Trump praised the leadership of the two countries for choosing “general knowledge and great intelligence” to reduce the crisis.

Sharing a post on social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “After a long night of the intermediary conversation by the United States, I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries for using general knowledge and great intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Earlier, India launched Operation Sindor on 7 May on May 2 in Pahalgam on 7 May in response to a disgusting terrorist attack. 26 people were killed in this attack. India had deepened nine terrorist sites inside Pakistan. This saw Pakistan with a series of unsafe growth using artillery guns and drones. (AI)
