IPL suspended, NC Classic 2025, Bengal T20 League was postponed due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan

Web Desk, 09/05/2025

Several tournaments in India were suspended or postponed in India on Friday due to the recent increasing border tension between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan on Thursday night targeted several areas and launched a series of coordinated drones and missile attacks along the western border of India. Defense officials confirmed that the attacks were intercepted by India’s air defense systems, including the S -400 missile defense system, which prevents significant damage.

Pakistan’s strikes were allegedly in vengeance of India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was held earlier this week, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan after a deadly terrorist attack in Kashmir, who killed 26 tourists on 22 April.

Friday afternoon, the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its decision to suspend the remaining IPL 2025, with immediate effect for a week due to increasing stress between the two nations.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remaining Tata IPL 2025 for a week. The further updates about the new programs and places of the tournament will be declared in a fixed time after comprehensive evaluation of the situation in consultation with relevant officers and stakeholders.

“This decision was taken after the IPL Governing Council after working with all the major stakeholders, which after the representatives of the most franchisees, who expressed the concerns and feelings of their players, and also the ideas of broadcaster, sponsors and fans, while the BCI also rejected full confidence in the strength and preparation of our Sarav forces.”

Later in the day, the inaugural edition of Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, which was held on May 24 at the Sri Kantarwa Stadium in Bengaluru, was postponed to the next notice due to increasing tension between the two neighboring countries.

“Inaugural version of NC Classic, the inaugural version of NC Classic Stand has been postponed until next notice. The decision has been cautiously consulted and consulted, with athletes, stakeholders and wide community well -being, as a top priority,” read a statement on NC Classic.

“We believe in the integrated power of the game. But, in this important moment, the firm standing with the nation matters the most. All our gratitude and ideas at this point are only with our armed forces, which are at the forefront of our nation. A revised program for NC Classic will be provided in the appointed time. Jai Hind,” the conclusion of the statement.

Due to recent developments, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced its decision to postpone the Bengal Pro T20 League season 2 and all related pre-events.

“Keeping in mind the prevailing national conditions, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to postpone the onset of Bengal Pro T20 League season 2 and thus related to all pre-events, until next notice, until a modified schedule, updated venue and fixators, including the relevant officers and stakecare, will be shared after a detailed review of coordination with relevant officers and stake (AI)
