Web Desk, 03/05/2025

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged three accused associated with the banned ISIS/ISJK terrorist group in the 2024 Srinagar Market Grenade attack, killing one woman and injuring several other citizens.

“NIA Special Court, in its charge sheet filed before Jammu, the anti-terrorism agency has named Sheikh Usem Yaseen, Omar Fayz Sheikh, and Afanan Mansoor Naik to the relevant sections (prevention) acts (prevention) act, 1967, acts for explosive materials, and Braityya Nyaya Sanhita (Bns). Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

“The three are currently registered in judicial custody. USama and Umer were arrested on 7 November, which was arrested on 8 November 2024 for their active role in criminal conspiracy on November 8, four days after the attack in TRC, Srinagar, on 3 November 2024.

The NIA, which has also exposed the possible participation of other terrorist groups in the conspiracy behind the attack, was found during the investigation that Trikari had planned, plotted and executed the grenade attack with the intention of creating nervousness and terror in the area. “The attack was part of a comprehensive strategy to harass public order and pursue the violent agenda of terrorist organizations working with cross -border support.”

Investigation in this case (RC-01/2025/NIA/JMU), which was registered by NIA on 31 January 2025, is going on in an attempt to identify the broad network involved in the attack, the spokesperson said- (KNO)
