Santo Domingo:

The Dominican Republic Rescue Workers on Wednesday ended the discovery of the people who survived the fall of the roof of a nightclub as the Death Count crossed 180 in the Caribbean nation’s worst disaster in decades.

Late on Wednesday night, emergency personnel reported 60 more deaths compared to the morning count, with a total confirmed tally to 184.

An official statement earlier stated that “all the appropriate possibilities of finding more survivors” had ended, and the attention of the operation would change to fix the bodies.

Relatives of missing people were still waiting for their loved ones outside the ruined club, in hospitals and in the local morgue on Wednesday.

More than 300 rescue workers aided by snifler dogs had combated two days through Puerto Rico and Israel’s firefighters, fallen, fallen bricks, steel bar and tin sheets through tin sheets.

The site’s aerial images showed a view after an earthquake, with a gap hole, where the club roof – a stability of the nightlife of Santo Domingo for half a century – was one.

More than 500 people were also injured when climbing on the roof, while the famous Merangue singer Rubby Perez was performing for a crowd of hundreds.

Mercedes Lopez said she was in great pain because she was waiting to learn her son’s fate.

“We haven’t found him in lists or hospitals,” he said.

US State Secretary Marco Rubio expressed his condolences on Wednesday and said that at least one American citizen was among the victims.

“Our hearts go out for families and loved ones affected by this devastating incident,” he wrote on X.
