Ottawa:

The Ottawa police said the Canadian Parliament went to a lockdown on Saturday after barricading a person inside the building. The man gained “unauthorized access” in the East block of Parliament Hill and stayed inside the night before the police arrested him on Sunday morning.

It is not clear whether the man was armed or there was a danger.

The Ottawa police said in a post on X, “The officer is on the scene in Parliament Hill for a barricade person in the area of ​​the East block. There is a large police appearance in the area. The East block has been evacuated. There are no known injuries.”

This advised citizens to escape from the region and follow the direction of the authorities.

He said, “Road closures remain on Wellington St. from Bank Street to Sussex Drive.”

The incident inspired the officials to “hide” the public.

A warning from the Parliamentary protective service (PPS) at 2:45 am asked people to “take shelter in the nearest room, close and close all the doors and hide”.

“If you are not in the immediate area, stay away from the next information. Do not travel to places under the lockdown. First wait for further instructions from the respondents,” said this.

Canadian Senator Patrick Breeso posted a picture of alert, stating “safe Ottawa”.

Hours later, the police took the man into custody. However, no further details were given.

Police said, “Criminal investigation is going on and an update will be provided in the morning. We thank the public for its cooperation.”

Officials have allegedly deployed special patrolling in the area with a canine unit and two bomb disposal unit robots.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney dissolved Parliament on 23 March before the Snap elections on 23 April. Elections will be held about six months before the original scheduled date of October 27.
