Sarah Keyworth celebrates the journey of self-discovery with great respect

Sarah Keyworth recently won Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

The show primarily focused on the family’s acceptance of their non-binary identity, which included undergoing top surgery.

While accepting the award, Keyworth expressed her gratitude to the show’s director Jett Weaver, as well as other directors including Paul Byrne and Adam Brace.

Praising the directors’ overall contribution, he said: “They have an imprint on everything I do.”

The comic continued: “The other shows that were nominated were absolutely incredible, and my comedy heroes were absolutely amazing. So it’s been a very special experience.”

“I’ve been to Edinburgh many times and the highlight of this festival is how nice you all are.”

Sarah said: “Everyone: the venue staff, the technical staff, just incredible. It was such a lovely experience. So thank you so much.”

Other nominees included John Kearns, Rose Matafeo, Julia Masali, Celia Paccola, Kanan Gill, Takashi Wakasugi, Lou Wall, Oliver Coleman and Ray O’Leary.
