US, Israel say coalition ‘miserably defeated’ Iran attack

The United States and Israel said they had suffered a “disastrous defeat” in an air strike in which Iran fired 300 munitions, including more than 100 ballistic missiles, at Israel on Saturday. But as dawn dawned on Sunday in both places, a larger question emerged: What happens next in a six-month conflict that threatens to engulf the Middle East?
