At the 20th BAFTA Games Awards held in London on Thursday night, Larian Studios’ massive role-playing game “Baldur’s Gate 3” continued to win year-end honors. The Dungeons & Dragons-style role-playing game also won awards in four other categories on the night, taking home the award for Best Game. The critically acclaimed survival horror sequel Alan Wake 2, Nintendo platformer Super Mario Bros. Miracle and British indie film Viewfinder each won two BAFTA Awards, while Cyberpunk 2077 ” continued its redemption story, winning the Evolved Games category.
The winners of the prestigious British Academy Games Awards were announced at a ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on Thursday evening. In one of the toughest categories of the night, narrative-based cooking game Venba won the debut games category, beating out critically acclaimed games like Cucoon, Dave the Diver, Dredge, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical and Viewfinder. However, Dave the Diver, a pixel art-style game about fishing and serving sushi, does win in the game design category.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 were two of last year’s most critically acclaimed games, competing for multiple end-of-year gaming awards during the awards season, ultimately winning the Technical Achievement and Performer Awards. . respectively in the lead role (Nagy Jeter as Miles Morales). In addition to Kingdom Tears’ win, Nintendo also picked up two awards that night in the Family and Multiplayer categories, both for Super Mario Bros. Miracle.
